SULLIVAN, DANIEL

Daniel was born on March 22nd, 1867 in London, the son of Cornelius and Catherine Murphy. Daniel enlisted on October 26th, 1915. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall with a girth of 42 inches. He had blue eyes and was of fair complexion. Daniel was posted to HMS Pekin before serving as a trimmer on board HM Trawler Courtier. Pekin was the auxiliary patrol shore base at Grimsby from 1907 through to 1919. Daniel was among the crew of eleven killed on January 6th, 1916 when HMT Courtier was blown up by a mine off Kilnsea, Spurn Head. The mine was probably from UC-6.
